SoundTrack of My Life

1.       Kirk Franklin – I Smile

a.       If you know me, you know that I always have a smile on my face. I tend to be always smiling because I believe you have to live your life with no regrets. Turn your frown upside down and this song says it all: “through your toughest time, always keep a smile on your face.” Even though I have gone through some tough times, I have managed to fight through it and keep a smile on my face.

2.       Michael Jackson – Black or White

a.       Being an African American today, you always get some type of discrimination or stereotypes where ever you go. Growing I face a lot of discrimination and stereotypes because of my dark skin, but it never phased me because it doesn’t matter if your black or white, we are all human.

3.       Big Sean – Memories

a.       Memories are things you can cherish for the rest of your life. I cherish the memories of the people that I have lost in my life because those are the best memories. Reminiscing on the time spent with them warms my heart more than anything.

4.       Tupac – Life Goes On

a.       In my life when something bad goes wrong, I just say to myself life goes on and cant morn on something you cannot change.

5.       T.I – Live your life

a.       You should be thankful for the life you got and stop looking at what you don’t have and be start being grateful for what you do have.  Live your life and don’t try to imitate someone else’s, be yourself.

All Shook Up: Epilogue

Rock n’ roll was a breeding ground, meeting place as well as a staging area of the 1950’s. Rock n’ roll can be known as major influence in this era, from how it shook many teenagers loose and shook up their parents to how it accelerated integration in the entertainment industry. It also raised questions about racial boundaries in the United States. Rock n’ roll played a major role in the civil rights movement and it wouldn’t have unraveled the way it did without it. Rock n’ roll had its most impact on teenagers. It made them more rebellious to parent authority, sexually adventures, and changed the type of clothing they wore. As the 50’s ended the baby boomers have not yet turned into young men and women, so as the 60’s hit, rock n’ roll has transformed into an inspiration.  Rock n’ roll’s graphic demonstration took place in August 1969 when 300,000 young adults attended the filthy, drug infested Woodstock Music and Art Festival in New York. Performers like Jefferson Airplane and Jimi Hendrix discouraged many parents to let their children attend, but that did not stop the rebellious teens of the 60’s.

Opinionator #2

Advertising has become a major topic when it comes to media. Advertising has been increasing tremendously over the years. “Spending on video ads in the U.S. is expected to reach $1.97 billion in 2011, up 38.6 percent from $1.42 billion in 2010. By 2014, online video ad spending will reach $5.71 billion, according to eMarketer’s forecast,” according to Media Life writer Diego Vasquez. With video ads and as well as all sorts of advertising on the rise, people around the globe are going to be easily bought in by all the ads. Video ads online are more of a concern to lure people into buying products because I believe our generation has turned to the internet instead of TV when it comes to entertainment. This is the case because the internet provides the amount of entertainment a TV does plus more. Advertisements are soon about to control the media, if it doesn’t already. Ads are found everywhere you go; there is no way around it. Ads can fall under the Cultural Theory because they are a return to the idea of powerful media. Media is a powerful resource around the globe and it is constantly used by almost everyone. If a huge majority of the world uses media and since advertisements are a huge part of media, people can be easily lured into the product being advertised.
